How To Grow Rocket

Rocket is usually grown from seeds, in its final location. It is sown from April, in the location it it to be harvested from. A smaller sowing every few weeks will give a constant supply of leaves to be picked throughout the summer.

Once the seedlings are big enough to handle they need to be “thinned out” – this means removing the smaller seedlings to allow the bigger ones to grow. Gently pull the smaller plants out, to leave gaps of about six inches between the remaining plants. Keep the area weed free and water during dry spells.

Once the plants are about 4 or 5 inches tall, start to pick leaves. Don’t pick more than a third of the plant at any one time to allow future pickings.
